It has been an interesting start to the season. There are 10 teams looking for their first win this week. Two weeks in and there has been injury galore and guys that have been vastly underperforming. We also have 10 undefeated teams and guys who you can’t typically count on, helping their team in big ways. Here are five guys I am looking to go Higher during this Sunday slate.
Josh Jacobs HIGHER Than 0.5 Rush + Rec TDs
Josh Jacobs
Green Bay Packers • RB • #8
Guess what Jacobs did last week! He scored a touchdown! Guess what he did the week before! Scored a touchdown. Guess what he has done in 10 straight, 11 if you count the playoffs, games! HE HAS SCORED A TOUCHDOWN! Look he has to go one game without a touchdown soon, but this won’t be the week. This is one of those projections you ride for as long as you can.
Jacobs faces Cleveland next, who held Derrick Henry to only 23 rushing yards. The only rushing touchdown they gave up was to Chase Brown in Week 1. Last year though, Cleveland was ranked 27th in the league, giving up an average of 1.3 rushing touchdown per game. I am going to ride the hot hand here, until it fails.
Tyler Warren HIGHER Than 48.5 Receiving Yards
Tyler Warren
Indianapolis Colts • TE • #84
I was expecting Warren to be the first tight end off the board during this year’s draft. He is playing like he should have been. Warren is currently leading Indianapolis in receptions, targets, and receiving yards. He has had a 76 yard game and a 79 yard game in his first two weeks in the league. Daniel Jones is loving his new team and he seems to have found his favorite target.
Warren is going up against Tennessee next. Tennessee is allowing 228 passing yards a game so far. The caveat here, they are only giving up 13.2 receiving yards per game to tight ends. Warren is currently averaging more than that,14, per reception. Look for him to continue his dominance this week.
J.K. Dobbins HIGHER Than 49.5 Rushing Yards
J.K Dobbins
Denver Broncos • RB • #27
His projection continues to be the same. Every week his projection is at 49.5. His first two weeks he has rushed for 63 and 76 yards, respectively. While his snap count is low, averaging 49% a game, he is handling 55% of Denver’s rushes. Week 3 he will be facing off against the Chargers’ defense.
The Chargers are only giving up 83 rushing yards a game. They have only Kansas City, whose leading rusher is Patrick Mahomes, and a Las Vegas team that cannot figure out how to block for their rookie running back. Dobbins will be their first real test of the season. Keep riding the hot hand!
Travis Etienne Jr. HIGHER Than 57.5 Rushing Yards
Travis Etienne Jr.
Jacksonville Jaguars • RB • #1
Here is another guy that continues to out rush his projections. Etienne has already rushed for 143 and 71 yards in his first two games. He is coming off a game where he had an average of 5.1 yard average per attempt, versus a top 10 defense in Cincinnati. If he can continue to receive a 66% snap share, like he did last week, his numbers should continue to rise.
The Jaguars are running the ball 58% of the ball. Week 3 they face a Houston defense that is giving up an average of 120.5 rushing yards a game. There is no reason Etienne, who has the third most rushing yards in the league, couldn’t get half of that on his own.
Bijan Robinson HIGHER Than 112.5 Rush =+ Rec Yards
Bijan Robinson
Atlanta Falcons • RB • #7
If Robinson is on the field, which he is 75% of the time, you can expect him to put on a show. His first two weeks saw him put up numbers a different way each game. Week 1 he only managed to rush for 24 yards, but he put up 100 receiving yards. Week 2 he only had 25 receiving yards, but rushed for 143. Robinson is leading the team in both categories. Michael Penix Jr. looks to make sure Robinson gets the ball one way or another.
Robinson is facing a Carolina Defense that is giving up an average of 141 rushing yard a game. This should be an easier matchup for Robinson than Minnesota was last week, whose defense he absolutely shredded last week for 143 rushing yards. This is a matchup where he might be flirting with his projection by halftime
