The New Orleans Saints are releasing former first-round running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire before the season, per Nick Underhill. Edwards-Helaire, who joined the Saints after three years with the Kansas City Chiefs, was one of two running backs cut before the 4 PM deadline for teams to reach 53 players on their roster.
Edwards-Helaire leaves a crowded backfield with Alvin Kamara, Kendre Miller, and Devin Neal. The Saints also cut fellow running back Marcus Yarns.
