Week 4 is looming large, and we have a lot of interesting matchups and opportunities on this main Sunday DraftKings slate. Let’s dive into some players at the $5,000 salary or less to target to supplement the stars and try and win some cold hard cash!
Marcus Mariota
Marcus Mariota
Washington Commanders • QB • #8
In a late week surprise, Jayden Daniels has been ruled out despite practicing basically all week. This means we have another week of Marcus Mariota, although he’s priced at $5k this time instead of his $4k price tag from last week. However, Mariota still has the vaunted combo of rushing upside and a cheaper salary to be a good value play here. Even if he only gives you about what he gave you last week (21.3 points), you’d still be happy to have that at only $5,000 salary.
Jaxson Dart
Jaxson Dart
New York Giants • QB • #6
Jaxson Dart gets his first NFL start here in Week 4, and I normally don’t love playing a rookie quarterback in his first ever start on DraftKings. However, Dart projects to run quite a bit, and rushing is king at the quarterback position, especially at the cheaper price of $4,500. The Chargers are a good defense, but Dart still has Malik Nabers at his disposal to open up the potential for huge chunk plays. With Cam Skattebo also starting to emerge, Dart’s weapons are very solid, and I like his upside a ton in this slate.
Rico Dowdle
Rico Dowdle
Carolina Panthers • RB • #5
Chuba Hubbard has been questionable most of the week with injury, and there’s a chance he either misses the game, or cedes work to Dowdle to try and maintain his health. Furthermore, Trevor Etienne has had a rough start to his NFL career, and Rico Dowdle is not really in danger of losing any work to Etienne at this point of the season. Dowdle has good pass-catching upside as a stand-alone, and against a weaker Patriots defense, I like the potential Rico provides to break a big gain or two. And if Chuba misses, Rico becomes a must-play at his cost.
Woody Marks
Woody Marks
Houston Texans • RB • #27
I hope you’re proud of me folks, I did not tout Bhayshul Tuten for the third week in a row in this series. However, just know that he’s still a good value play to me. Instead, I want to focus on Woody Marks of the Houston Texans. He has steadily been playing more and more snaps every week, and Nick Chubb has been pretty mediocre this season despite having all the opportunity in the world to start out.
Marks catches passes, which always gives him a solid baseline on a weekly basis. There’s a relatively realistic chance as well that Marks takes over as the primary rusher, which gives Marks a very intriguing ceiling, especially at $4,400. The Texans also are facing a putrid Titans defense, and I like taking the upside shot on a rookie who could take the job from Nick Chubb if he has a good game here.
Chris Rodriguez
Chris Rodriguez
Washington Commanders • RB • #36
I am a Bill Croskey-Merritt truther, plain and simple. However, he has missed basically all week of practice, and he’s trending towards missing this game entirely. If that happens, Chris Rodriguez stands to inherit 10-15 touches in this game, paired with a rushing QB in a Kliff Kingsbury offense. If Bill does indeed miss, Rodriguez becomes one of the chalkiest plays on the slate to me.
Jerry Jeudy
Jerry Jeudy
Cleveland Browns • WR • #3
The one thing the Detroit Lions have not been great against so far in 2025 is slot receivers. Plus, the Browns have been talking all week about how they want to get Jerry Jeudy more involved in the offense. This combo makes Jeudy a very interesting value play to me, as we know Jeudy has slate-breaking potential if a gameplan goes his way. I fear for the Browns offense as a whole in this game, but I love Jeudy as a cheap shot on Cleveland’s best attempt to keep pace with a prolific Lions offense.
Tyquan Thornton
Tyquan Thornton
Kansas City Chiefs • WR • #80
The sad reality for the Kansas City Chiefs is that their offense is flat out abysmal. Rashee Rice still has 3 more games of suspension, Travis Kelce well and truly looks old, and Xavier Worthy is finally back this week from a dislocated shoulder.
What has been most surprising so far is that Tyquan Thornton seems to be the only effective receiver in the offense, with Hollywood Brown turning tons of targets into very little fantasy production. Thornton seems to have a pseudo Tyreek Hill role however, and Mahomes has been happy to target Thornton so far. At only $4k against a team the Chiefs will need to score points against, I love the play here.
Adonai Mitchell
Adonai Mitchell
Indianapolis Colts • WR • #10
Alec Pierce is going to miss this week with a concussion. Despite being talented, the Colts basically never use Josh Downs in 2 wide receiver sets, even when Pierce misses the game. Instead, Adonai Mitchell is the player who steps in for the team, and his talent level is too high for me to ignore this opportunity. Especially with the Colts offense performing so well this year, Mitchell to me is the best value play on the slate for the upside he represents.
Cade Otton
Cade Otton
Tampa Bay Buccaneers • TE • #88
When Baker’s weapons are healthy, Cade Otton is a total non-factor. However, Mike Evans is going to miss several weeks with a hamstring injury, and Chris Godwin is still seemingly a game-time decision to play after his catastrophic leg injury last year.
This leaves only rookie Emeka Egbuka and the running back room for Baker to target, besides Cade Otton. Whenever multiple weapons are out at the same time for the Bucs, Baker turns his attention to Otton. We could pretty easily see a 6-8 target game, and at $3,400, I like that upside quite a bit.
Tommy Tremble
Tommy Tremble
Carolina Panthers • TE • #82
Tommy Tremble is always a fun name to bring up for DraftKings DFS once or twice every year, and this week seems to be that week. Ja’Tavion Sanders is likely to miss the game, and Xavier Legette is also out. This leaves Tetairoa McMillan and a random collection of veterans left in the passing game, along with Tremble at the tight end position. Against a weak Patriots passing defense, I like taking the shot on Tremble seeing several targets and possibly lucking into a touchdown down reception.
