It is Week 11, the most fun quarterback in fantasy has returned, and I’m back to help us think through the best ways to save some dough in the DraftKings Sunday slate. Let’s dive into some players at the $5,000 salary or less to target to supplement the stars and try and win some cold hard cash!
Jameis Winston
Jameis Winston
New York Giants • QB • #19
Ladies and gentlemen, our fantasy lord and savior has finally returned. Jameis Winston is the Week 11 starter for the New York Giants, and he is someone you must play on DraftKings this week. I don’t care how many weapons he’s missing (and he is missing a ton), Jameis Winston ALWAYS gets it done for fantasy. He will throw picks, he will fumble, and it doesn’t matter, because he will also score at least 2 touchdowns with upside for more and a lovely bunch of yards to boot.
Jacoby Brissett
Jacoby Brissett
Arizona Cardinals • QB • #7
Most people probably thought Brissett returned to being a pumpkin last week based on the final score of the game. I’m here to tell you that is not at all the case. Two defensive touchdowns on two fumbles that were centimeters and tenths of a second away from being incomplete passes.
But when the dust settled and the game was finished, Brissett still scored 21.4 DraftKings points with 2 touchdowns and no interceptions. He has scored more than 20.8 points on DraftKings in every game he’s started this season, and he now faces an incredibly thin, beat-up 49ers defense that has struggled wildly as of late.
Nick Chubb
Nick Chubb
Houston Texans • RB • #21
Thank goodness there’s a good Quarterback value this week, because the running back value is almost non-existent in Week 11. Nick Chubb is a disgusting play by all accounts. I completely agree. However, the Texans face the Titans, and if there’s ever a defense that even Nick Chubb could rush for 50+ yards and a TD, it would be Tennessee.
I think Woody Marks is a much better play this week, but he’s also priced too high to qualify for this article, and I could definitely see Houston pulling out to a big enough lead that Chubb gets meaningful work in the later part of the game, on top of anything he gets while the game is semi-close.
Emari Demercado
Emari Demercado
Arizona Cardinals • RB • #31
Demercado delivered a perfectly fine baseline score last week, and Bam Knight is now injured and could miss this game entirely. If he does, it will be Demercado and Michael Carter leading the way for touches, and I expect Demercado to handle the majority of the workload as the more explosive back and better pass-catcher. I don’t know how high of a ceiling he has, but he will definitely provide a solid floor in this matchup.
Romeo Doubs
Romeo Doubs
Green Bay Packers • WR • #87
The Packers face the Giants in Week 11, and they are still searching for a passing gameplan that works with Tucker Kraft out for the season. Romeo Doubs is still Jordan Love’s favorite target, and without Kraft (and possibly Golden this week), Doubs is the most likely candidate to get a majority of the targets and high-value passing down work. The game environment is strong as well for Doubs here, and I’ll take all the savings I can get on a primary pass-catcher in a good offense.
Tez Johnson
Tez Johnson
Tampa Bay Buccaneers • WR • #15
This play is certainly riskier, as Tez Johnson has not been much of a target-earner so far, even with every other Bucs player out basically. However, the one thing he is doing consistently is catching touchdowns, and while not predictive, touchdowns are king on DraftKings. He has 4 TDs in his last 4 games, and the Bucs are in another huge game against the Buffalo Bills. I expect Baker to be in his bag in this game, and another long TD would help Tez easily pay off his $4700 DraftKings price point here.
Michael Wilson
Michael Wilson
Arizona Cardinals • WR • #14
The amount of Cardinals in this article is truly gross as a Cardinals fan, but the entire offense has been humming on all cylinders under Brissett, and are still too cheap collectively. Wilson normally would not have made this list, but it was announced earlier this week that Marvin Harrison Jr. had surgery to remove his appendix, and is out for at least Week 11 to recover.
With MHJ gone, Michael Wilson becomes the primary receiver for the Cardinals (after Trey McBride of course), and against a weaker defense with a QB who is playing well, I am happy to pay $3800 for a chance at 6-10 targets in a good game environment.
Jerry Jeudy
Jerry Jeudy
Cleveland Browns • WR • #3
I touched on Jeudy in last week’s piece, and he came through for us with nearly 20 DraftKings fantasy points. More importantly, Jeudy once more took his place as the primary target-earner in Cleveland, even with Harold Fannin playing the entire game. Fannin is still banged up this week, though trending to play, and as long as he’s not feeling close to 100%, I think the Browns will continue to look Jeudy’s way in the passing game.
Baltimore is a much better defense than the Jets now that they have a lot of their starters back, but they’re also not an exceptional defense either. Dillon Gabriel will have to throw a lot in this game if it goes the way most of us expect it to, and I like Jerry Jeudy for a solid 7+ targets to see if he can get another TD or big play to supplement our lineups again this week.
Colston Loveland
Colston Loveland
Chicago Bears • TE • #84
Ben Johnson has finally seen reason, at least at the Tight End position. Colston Loveland has firmly supplanted Cole Kmet as the starting TE, and Caleb Williams is playing the best professional football of his young career right now. The days of the cheap TE are gone unfortunately, even in a week where most of the heavy-hitters aren’t on the slate outside of Trey McBride. Still, Loveland is talented and explosive as a receiver, and you won’t find basically any other TE’s in this price range that can say the same. One TD from Caleb and Loveland will easily pay off $3600 on DraftKings.
Pat Freiermuth
Pat Freiermuth
Pittsburgh Steelers • TE • #88
I don’t often include Steelers players on this list, but they face the Cincinnati Bengals this week, and you simply must play players facing the Bengals. Pat Freiermuth has done more or less nothing all season, being part of a three-headed TE committee for Arthur Smith. However, when they faced the Bengals in Week 7, the Muth put up 31.1 DraftKings points on 5 receptions, 111 yards, and 2 touchdowns.
Fantasy is not so simple as to say that he will do the same thing again, but the Bengals simply cannot and do not stop Tight Ends from scoring fantasy points this year. Freiermuth has the talent and the trust of Aaron Rodgers to at least have the opportunity to repeat his performance to some extent, and with so few viable cheap options at TE, I’m happy to take my shot here and see if he can even just give me 12-15 points at only $3200.
