We are kicking off Week 5 of the NFL Season with the Los Angeles Rams hosting the San Francisco 49ers and mainly their backups! While it could have been a fun Thursday Night matchup, this one could get ugly pretty quickly, but there are still some plays worth targeting. Davante Adams HIGHER Than 54.5 Receiving Yards
Davante Adams
Los Angeles Rams • WR • #17
This is a ‘pick your poison’ situation for the San Francisco 49ers defense. You either try to stop Davante Adams or try to stop Puka Nacua. Good luck either way. Adams will have Renardo Green lining up from across from him, and the matchup screams for the veteran wide receiver. Adams has only dropped below 54 receiving yards once this season, but has now recorded 56 receiving yards in Week 4, 56 in Week 3, and 106 in Week 2.
Even with Nacua on the field, Adams has still received five targets or more in every game. I expect the 49ers to try and slow down Nacua (sorry, it’s not happening), which will leave Davante open and ready to feast.
Kendrick Bourne HIGHER Than 3.5 Receptions
Kendrick Bourne
San Francisco 49ers • WR • #84
The higher/lower numbers for the San Francisco 49ers offense may move a decent amount before kickoff, and that’s due to Ricky Pearsall and Jauan Jennings being ruled out (alongside Brock Purdy). Kendrick Bourne may be line for a decent amount of work alongside Christian McCaffrey. With Mac Jones under center, Bourne brings the most “familiarity” for the backup quarterback.
Through the three seasons that the two played together in New England, Bourne had 70 targets in 2021, 48 targets in 2022, and 55 targets in 2023. With Jennings and Pearsall exiting the game for some time in Week 4, Bourne did log four targets and had six in Week 3. Like I mentioned, this is a familiar weapon for Mac Jones to utilize in what could be a “catch-up” game script for the 49ers.

Brian Robinson Jr. HIGHER Than 18.5 Rushing Yards
Brian Robinson Jr.
San Francisco 49ers • RB • #30
I am surprised this rushing yard total hasn’t increased more for the higher/lower. Once again, with limited weapons and (hopefully) not wanting to run Christian McCaffrey into the ground, Kyle Shanahan should utilize Brian Robinson more. With our projections, Robinson is projected for 26.3 rushing yards. He has rushed for over 20 yards in each game this season. His attempts have also been five or more besides in Week 3, where he only had two. I expect Robinson to lend a bigger helping hand with a beat-up offense..
Matthew Stafford HIGHER Than 1.5 Touchdowns
Matthew Stafford
Los Angeles Rams • QB • #9
Look, the Los Angeles Rams offense is probably going to produce close to 500 yards on this San Francisco defense that looked horrible last week against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Matthew Stafford also doesn’t look like a guy who had back issues during training camp and preseason. In four games, he has thrown eight touchdowns. He threw one in Week 1, two in Weeks 2 and 3, and then threw for four in Week 4. His main weapons, Nacua and Adams, have great matchups to where this SHOULD be an easy feat for the veteran quarterback.
