DraftKings Top Week 3 Value Plays

We have reached Week 3 already, and I’m back to talk through the best values out there on the DraftKings Sunday Slate. Let’s dive into some players at the $5,000 salary or less to target to supplement the stars and try and win some cold hard cash!

Bryce Young

Through two weeks, Bryce Young is tied with Joe Flacco for the NFL lead in passing attempts with 90. The Panthers have basically been trailing from the opening kickoff both weeks, and they probably won’t be leading much this week either against the Falcons.

Young has not looked the best, but he has more touchdowns than interceptions, he’s still scrambling for yards at a decent clip, and the Falcons’ secondary is still not very strong on defense. Bryce has the potential to put up a top 3-5 score on the week any given week, and he will never be highly owned because of the similar potential to bottom out and put up a true stinker. If you need savings though, I think Bryce gives you a lot of bang for your buck if he plays even average in this game.

Carson Wentz

Similar to Mac Jones last week, Carson Wentz is the minimum priced QB to play this week, with JJ McCarthy being ruled out for Week 3 on Monday despite finishing their game. Wentz has proven in the past that he can score fantasy points, though not to the extent he once did.

More importantly, he’s facing a down-bad Bengals team without Joe Burrow. Their defense is still not very good, and the Vikings still have Justin Jefferson and T.J. Hockenson, even with Jordan Addison suspended for this game and Aaron Jones on IR. For the amount of savings you can get playing Wentz, he has plenty of upside and good weapons to throw to to be worth taking a shot on him and seeing what you can build around his minimum $4,000 price.

Tyler Allgeier

Despite the amount of work that Bijan Robinson has been getting, Tyler Allgeier quietly has 27 touches through two weeks. While Allgeier doesn’t really have the true ceiling you may want unless something happens to Bijan, he does have a floor that you can be comfortable with at his price. Allgeier also faces a Panthers defense that hasn’t performed well so far this year, which gives Tyler a raised probability to have high value touches in the red zone.

Bhayshul Tuten

For the second week in a row, Bhayshul Tuten is on this list, despite having a very promising game in Week 2. He was explosive, shifty, and showed why a lot of fantasy football enthusiasts are so enticed by his skill set. And he’s somehow still only $4,900 this week. I once again don’t like the value running backs this week, but Tuten is someone I would legitimately consider in some lineups in Week 3.

Travis Hunter

I won’t lie, I can’t quit Travis Hunter and the upside he represents. He’s a top pick playing the Chris Godwin role in Liam Coen’s offense. If Trevor Lawrence can start to truly run this offense, I still am a firm believer that Hunter’s talent will win out, and he could give you slate-breaking upside if things start to go Hunter’s way.

He’s still getting a solid target share, and he still has the athleticism and talent to take simple receptions in the slot and turn them into big plays. It hasn’t happened yet, but when it does, you’ll need him on your team to win significant money that week, especially at these prices.

Michael Pittman Jr.

The Indianapolis Colts have scored on 10 straight possessions at one point so far this season. They look very much like the real deal with Daniel Jones under center, and as long as that continues to be the case, you should be taking chances on pieces of this offense.

Michael Pittman Jr. is the #1 receiver for this team, regardless of how analytics and data nerds want to declare that it’s Josh Downs. But Pittman still has a great role and a solid target floor, and as long as Jones continues to play well and hit open receivers, Pittman will continue to score fantasy points, as someone who can get open pretty consistently when healthy.

Kayshon Boutte

The thesis for Boutte is pretty simple to me. The Steelers defense has not played well through two weeks. Drake Maye has played very well through two weeks. Boutte was the primary target for Maye in Week 1, and was an end zone target last week that resulted in a touchdown. I think Boutte may truly be having a 3rd year breakout in New England, and I like his upside at $4600 on Draft Kings.

Dontayvion Wicks

Tucker Kraft is now dealing with a knee injury that leaves him in question for this week. Jayden Reed is out for the foreseeable future with multiple injuries. The Packers are left with Romeo Doubs, so far underwhelming rookie Matthew Golden, and Dontayvion Wicks in the passing game. To me, Wicks is the most talented receiver of the group.

The biggest question is still whether Wicks can hold onto his receptions this year, as drops basically killed his playing time and potential last season. If Wicks can be more consistent and reliable, he provably gets open, and Jordan Love could find him often against a squishy Browns passing defense.

Ja’Tavion Sanders

As much as I love Harold Fannin Jr., I’m concerned about the Packers matchup this week. Instead, I’m looking at Ja’Tavion Sanders for the Panthers. Outside of Tet McMillan, the Panthers haven’t really found a consistently good 2nd or even 3rd target in their offense. Sanders has the athleticism and pass-catching profile to provide you some randomly good weeks, and I personally like the upside of the Panthers offense against the Falcons this week.

Mason Taylor

The Jets with Tyrod Taylor at quarterbacm are a bit more interesting to me than they were with Justin Fields. There is still only one clear receiving option in Garrett Wilson, and I don’t hate taking the shot on Mason Taylor to step into that 2nd option for Tyrod in a game they will most likely need to score points to keep pace with Tampa Bay.
