McLaurin, entering the final year of his three-year extension signed in mid-2022, had publicly expressed frustration over stalled negotiations and even requested a trade in late July.

He had missed several days of training camp, was placed on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list due to an ankle injury, and only returned to practice after a $200,000 fine for hold-in days.

Offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury emphasized how critical McLaurin’s return was for offensive cohesion, especially as the team prepared for the opener.
